BSP Hose Barb / Hose Tails Surpassing Expectations

Our BSP fittings surpass the Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA) and AS 3688 standards, with some boasting WaterMark and ISO 9001 certifications. Available in brass, polypropylene, and stainless steel, these fittings are engineered for durability and performance in both domestic and industrial water management. Polypropylene options meet AS/NZS 4793, ideal for high-strength and chemical-resistant applications. Stainless steel fittings offer unmatched strength and corrosion resistance for the most demanding environments. Each material is chosen for its specific advantages, ensuring versatility and compliance with stringent Australian standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

To determine the correct size barb for your hose, measure the internal diameter (ID) of your hose. The barb size should closely match this measurement to ensure a snug fit that minimizes leaks. Please reference our BSP Sizing Table to select the right barb for your hose.

A hose barb is a fitting with a ridged surface that slides inside a hose and secures it, often with a clamp. A nut & tail barb combines a hose barb on one end and a threaded nut on the other, allowing it to connect a hose directly to a threaded fitting.

316 Stainless steel is considered the best material for barbs in the food industry due to its resistance to corrosion, ease of cleaning, and ability to withstand high temperatures, making it suitable for various food-processing applications.

While polypropylene barbs are resistant to many chemicals and have a high melting point, they may not be the best choice for an engine bay due to the extreme heat. Materials that can better withstand high temperatures, such as metal barbs, are recommended for use in engine bays.
