Pressure Fittings that meet Australian Standards & Conditions

Our PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) Pressure Pipe Fittings not only meet the standards of AS/NZS 1477 but also exceed those high standards, made to ASTM D1785 guidelines. PVC has excellent resistance to abrasion due to their low elastic modulus and coefficient of friction, which helps prevent surface abrasion. While materials like PTFE, Nylon, and Polyurethanes are known for their low friction, PVC offers good abrasion resistance at a lower cost. PVC's ultimate strength remains relatively stable with age, and its short-term tensile strength may even increase slightly. It's worth noting that PVC isn't significantly weakened over time, contrary to some materials.

This standard that sets rules for PVC pipes and fittings used in pressurized water systems. It tells manufacturers how to make these pipes and fittings and what tests they need to pass. This ensures they're safe and work well in things like water supply and irrigation systems.
The ASTM D1785 Standard Specification for Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Plastic Pipe, available in Schedules 40, 80, and 120, caters to the diverse requirements of industrial, commercial, and residential piping systems. This specification encompasses pipes designed for water distribution and irrigation systems, ensuring reliability across various applications.
    • PVC-U (unplasticised) is stiff and tough, resistant to most chemicals, and can handle temperatures up to 60°C.
    • PVC-M (modified) is also rigid but tougher, with slightly lower strength.
    • PVC (plasticised) is less stiff but has high impact strength and can be easily shaped, though it's not as resistant to chemicals.
    • PVC-C (chlorinated) is similar to PVC-U but can withstand higher temperatures, up to 95°C.
    • PVC-O (Oriented PVC) is incredibly strong, with tensile strength up to double that of PVC-U, achieved through a special manufacturing process.
The orientation technique for PVC pipes was developed in the 1970s and PVC-O pipes were first installed in Australia in 1986. The molecular orientation technique is applied to the preform pipe, which result in an Oriented PVC pipe with significant improvements in the pipes mechanical properties (tensile strength, impact behavior, circumferential resistance, strain fatigue, cracks propagation, etc.).
